WHERE I’M AT
NGL I wrote out most of this newsletter a few days before the overturning of Roe v Wade with plans to publish on 6/24…instead I spent 6/24 crying on my way to the Costa Mesa IKEA. It was the only IKEA that had what I needed, a build your own kitchen island. My fiance Pablo and I had a long drive down to Orange County so we decided to “make it a day” IKEA would be followed by eating hotdogs and going to the beach. When we woke up and saw the news we tried to convince ourselves that “make it a day” plan would give us some hope, the ocean might soothe our depression? The Chicago style hotdog will feel like a reassuring hug? Instead we pulled up to the IKEA, got our shit, looked each other in the eyes and said “lets go home.” It is a grief you can’t cover with pleasure. It wasn’t the time. We sulked and built the island. Normally an activity ripe for fighting, we were silent. We put our heads down and went into construction mode. As we put our pans away, the rights of so many started to dissolve: state by state. I don’t feel any better because I live in California. That’s fucked up. I want every citizen to have access to necessary medical care. I’ve been in the midst of moving into a new home and the idea of getting domestic and planting roots amongst the background of societal collapse is…weird! The Pluto Return of the US has been so damn literal. Please donate to abortion funds. Please be kind to each other.
I’m getting married in a few months. 2022 is said to be one of the busiest wedding years in history. We are still very much in, but moving through a pandemic. The world I heard so many people beg to return to was a pretty fucked up to begin with and it’s only getting more fucked upper. Why are we trying to go back to a place that wasn’t even functioning? Can we move forward to a new and radical future? I told my therapist the only thing that keeps me optimistic is there’s more of us than them. I try to remember love.
This year: 2022 is represented in tarot by the card THE LOVERS. Numerology + tarot are fields where I am interested but no expert. 2022 broken down is 2+0+2+2 = 6. The Lovers is the 6th Major Arcana card. I think sometimes folks see the Lovers and think of them very simply: this very dated notion of love = being tethered to one other person-monogamous-oh ok I’m stuck to someone-vibe. But the Lovers invite a sense of FREEDOM. Love is a choice. To be seen and to see others. I encourage you to be around the people, whether near or far, that allow you to be yourself, with no asterisks. To invest your time and energy into people who do the same right back at ya. Who embrace your love and its reciprocated. Lovers can be literal lovers, but lovers can be friends, our community, our craft, nature. Ultimately it represents connection.
As a collective, we are grieving, we are pulling our hair out at the never ending madness. We were made to kiss, to create, socialize, lay in the shade. No matter how easy and appealing it may be to go with the flow and tune out, I invite you to connect (consensually always) with the people, places, and things around you.

SO WHAT’S UP WITH THE SKY
For an in-depth guide, feel free to listen to our What’s Your Sign episode on 2022 Cancer Szn. Our Leo Szn forecast will be posted on Mon 7/18. We are riding the waves of Cancer Szn until the Sun moves into Leo on July 22.
The themes of July I can summarize in two words: SANCTUARY & PLAY. Cancer & Leo. Moon & Sun. The luminaries! I am TELLING YOU the top 2 signs I meet who usually go “I don’t feel like my sun sign at all” are 10 times out of 10 Cancers and Leos. It’s hard being the light! Cancers change with the moon, you’re not meeting the same Cancer you met yesterday. Leos are charged by the Sun, so much vitality and a magnetism that can’t be ignored (sorry introverted Leos!) which can exhaust the lion. “Why is everyone staring at me?!!? Leave my goods alone!!! Stop looking at me swan!!!!!!” the Lion roars as they slink into their pajamas. When you are light, you will attract. Boundaries / communications are vital practices for our sun + moon folks to learn.
SANCTUARY: This Cancer szn is filled with many activating transits from both fun-loving Jupiter + healing-minded Chiron, begging us to ask: where are we safe? Safe to have fun, safe to express ourselves. What rituals are we missing in our life?
PLAY: When the Sun moves into its home sign of Leo ~ we’ll have a lot of nice zesty (and testy!) energy come July/August. Simple pleasures and joys may feel extra groovy, especially considering the state of the financial world…woof! Grab a blanket & a good book. Call your bestie and find a free dance party. GET CREATIVE HELLO LEO SZN. There’s no need to road block your pleasure, especially as the world keeps spinning, it seems like it’s all we may have if we’re so lucky.

WHAT I’M DIGGING
Crying in H-Mart by Michelle Zauner - Wow so Michelle Zauner, also a talented musician known as Japanese Breakfast, absolutely gutted me with her debut book. While the memoir is breezy to read, it is heavy in its content, an emotional exploration as Zauner recounts the period in her life caring for her mother leading up to her death, the struggles of an artist’s life, and her unique position living in the two worlds of Korean and American identities. After I finished the book I was like, “ok she must be an Aries cuz this book is RAW” and I scrolled on over to Wikipedia and there it was: March 29 bday, Aries<3. I loved this book so so so so so much.
The Deep End (Freeform via Hulu) - I love anything cults. Series that explore the dark side of wellness *chefs kiss* Being an astrologer, I have seen for myself just how many grifters and snake oil sales people there are in this line of work. I have been aware of Teal Swan for a few years now and have been patiently waiting a top tier doc about her and her legion of devotees and this doc series The Deep End gave me everything I wanted and moreeeeeeee. My only complaint is I wish there was more episodes! In this 4-part series, we get a look inside the world of Teal Swan: a “spiritual” leader of a modern day, mainly Facebook/YouTube led (alleged) cult. All I can say is…just watch it! TW: suicide
Grandaddy - Maybe it’s the Cancer Szn making me nostalgic for something I never had. I never really listened to Grandaddy growing up. The song I was most familiar with was AM 180 because it was used in the horror movie 28 Days Later. Something made me think of that song so I went on a YouTube Grandaddy shuffle spree and now I’m just in looooove with so many of their albums. It hits a folk, indie, lo-fi sound that is feeling so right against the harsh LA summer sun. I’ve been listening to this song on repeat.
Prehistoric Planet on Apple TV - Ok so this show actually isnt that good…but David Attenborough narrating CGI dinosaurs in the exact style of Planet Earth. Yes I’m getting stoned and watching a bunch of baby raptors trying to swim, ok!!!! Turn your brain off and enjoy the dinos.
There was really too much amazing scripted TV that was hitttttting: BARRY! GIRLS5EVA! HACKS! Please watch these shows so they never get canceled xoxo
Everything Everywhere All At Once dir. Daniels - What a visual FEAST. Lean into the absurd, travel the multiverse, BECOME A ROCK. In this societal landscape of “what matters” this film explores that question and answers back “everything.”
I’ll be back in August. I need to decorate my house. I need to practice throwing a baseball. I am going to walk, lay with my cat, open the window while I sleep and let the wind hit my face, I will eat a caesar salad, I will live life. Keep going!
